Canadian National Hang Gliding Championships - 1976
Kaslo and Nelson, British Columbia

This is a view from the take off site.  The take off was located 4500 feet above the landing site and had a 200 foot cliff to take off from.  This was the preliminary competition in Kaslo, BC.  Taking  off.

After many tries, I was finally able to hit the target.

Some people missed the target.  The target is near the left side of the picture.  It was located on a little point of land.  Miss and you could land in the water.

One night, we all landed at the house of one of the competitors from Kaslo.  Lots of beer that night.

The finals of the competition were held in Nelson, BC.  A helicopter had to be used to take pilots and gliders to the top of the mountain where the take off was located.

I attached a Super 8mm movie camera to the rear of my
hang glider. I flew from a mountain above the Payette River
near Banks, Idaho and landed on the west side of the river.
